MAKING HIS GRAND DEBUT AS A RAPPER IN 2006 AT JUST THE AGE OF 30, CREATING A WELL-RESPECTED NAME FOR HIMSELF IN THE INDUSTRY. THROUGHOUT HIS CAREER, HIS FAME ONLY GREW BUT UNFORTUNATELY, AS DID HIS WEIGHT. TO THE POINT WHERE PEOPLE BEGAN TO FEAR FOR THE RAPPER’S LIFE.

Rick Ross: Weight Loss Journey

Before the Weight Loss Journey

Rick Ross always had a rather large physique, which only seemed to increase along with time. However, the rapper never seemed to worry much about his own weight. Up until 2011, when his weight began to threaten his life. During this time the rapper’s weight was at its highest, reaching a shocking 350 pounds. Which is almost 200 pounds over the average weight, for an adult male.

In 2011, Rick Ross suffered from two seizures in only 24 hours! During an interview the rapper spoke about the experience, explaining that he randomly found himself sitting in a waiting room for a very expensive doctor’s office. He followed by sharing, that he was the only black person in the waiting room and the only one that wasn’t 55 to 80 years of age. The rapper continued to say that all of the other elder men were looking at him, wondering what on Earth he was doing there, making him feel really out of place. Like he wasn’t meant to be there.

When it was finally his turn to get called in to go see the doctor, the doctor informed the rapper that unlike most of the other patients, high blood pressure was not the problem. but the rapper was in fact hypertensive and one of his biggest threats were sodas. That was when Ross decided, that it was finally time to do something about his weight.

During the Weight Loss Journey

After receiving the news from the doctor about how dangerous his weight had become, Rick Ross introduced a new strict weight loss plan and routine, in order to help him shed off some of the weight. Ross decided that he didn’t want to pursue an intense diet or cleanse, he preferred to take a slower route. Allowing him to make some long-lasting results and slowly accept the new changes into his healthier lifestyle, in order to prevent himself from reverting back to old ways.

Although the rapper has kept his diet plan and workout routine a secret, he has shared some tips inspired by his own journey to anyone who may be struggling to lose some weight themselves or just may want to adapt a healthier lifestyle. These tips, include:

BEING STRICTER WITH WHAT YOU CONSUME. THIS MEANS:

* Avoid foods such as: bread, white rice and fish fillets.
* Have a strict timeline to eat, in order to prevent eating at inappropriate hours.
* Don’t be afraid to treat yourself for your hard-work.
* Avoid consuming: alcohol and soda, unless it’s diet.
* Drink lots of water throughout the day.

STAYING ACTIVE, BY ADAPTING A WORKOUT PLAN. THIS MEANS:

* Workout for 20 minutes each day.
* In your workout plan, include: push-ups, sit-ups, boxing, squat jumps and Olympic-style weightlifting.

Rick Ross suggests the CrossFit program for working out, as he explained that the program provides a high active workout plan. He also suggested finding people to work out with, as this can help you to stick with your plan and feel extra motivated, since you’re not the only one working out.

After the Weight Loss Journey

During an interview for Men’s Health Magazine, Rick Ross was asked how he’s feeling now after losing so much weight. He shared that he doesn’t just feel lighter with his own body but he also feels happier, too. He continued by sharing that although he is not done losing weight just yet, he’s very excited about the hard muscle that he is gaining to replace it.

In 2014, it was confirmed that the rapper had lost 100 pounds in almost just seven months of following his strict new diet plan, and has been able to successfully keep the weight off. Although his current weight is unknown to the public, some of the appearances that the rapper has made just proved that he is definitely taking a lot better care of his body!
